Our Impact

Since inception, our goal has been to inspire travelers, maximize social and economic benefits for the local community, and encourage others to do the same.

As part of our effort to keep Los Colibris and Todos Santos as beautiful as when we found it, we are completely single-use plastic free, 75% of the property is solar-powered, and we offset our carbon emissions through Neutral Together. Moreover, as an Education Partner of Tomorrow’s Air we have facilitated the capture and permanent storage of one ton of CO2 from the air.

In Addition, Los Colibris Casitas, in partnership with Kind Traveler’s Every Stay Gives Back program, supports Alianza Cero Basura. The mission of Alianza Cero Basura is to make our community the first zero waste tourism destination in Mexico by dramatically improving local waste management systems and changing the community’s relationship to trash. Our goal in doing so is to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities, our environment, and our economy, and to contribute as a community to the global climate agenda. Through our community impact program, $2 per stay will fund Alianza Cero Basura. 100% of funds are given to Alianza Cero Basura. Water Filtration

The water at Los Colibris Casitas is safe to drink!
Our water is purified using a state-of-the-art purification cartridge developed with NASA to purify water in space. This system delivers whole mineral rich water that’s safe and healthy with no electricity and no wasted water. It’s safe, foolproof, and full of the wonderful natural minerals from the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains.

To reduce the use of plastic bottles, we encourage you to refill your water bottles at Los Colibris before heading out and about to explore.

Zero Waste Alliance / Cero Basura

We are founding members of the Zero Waste Alliance, locally known as Alianza Cero Basura. Our goal: A community united to produce less waste, take responsibility for the waste it does produce, and support a circular economy in which waste is repurposed by vibrant local businesses.

Solar Power

Carrying through with our mission to have a lighter impact on our environment we have installed solar panels to harness the power of the ever-present Baja sun. To date 75% of our hotel’s electricity needs are covered by solar power and we continue to work toward our goal of being 100% powered by the sun and caring for our guests with clean, renewable energy.

Ecobricks

We are proud to partner with Todos Artes to re-purpose single-use plastics into ecobricks which can be used as building blocks for walls or homes, or turned into beautiful furniture.
 
We encourage our guests to contribute clean and dry single-use plastics to our community garrafon (large container) in the café. Once full, we turn it into beautiful art, and you can see several examples in the pool area at Los Colibris. If you get inspired we can set you up with Todos Arts to make your own ecobrick art! 
 

Tomorrow’s Air

Carbon removal from our atmosphere is essential in addressing the world’s climate crisis.

We are a proud carbon capture education partner with Tomorrow’s Air and Climeworks. To date, we have supported the removal of one ton of carbon dioxide from the air which is now stored deep underground. Global Sustainable Tourism Council

Our adventure travel business, Todos Santos Eco Adventures, is the first and currently only Mexican tour operator to be a member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
